| Willow Acasia (Acacia Salicina) |
A weeping willow to smile about.
| Also known as Australian Willow, among other names, this rapidly growing shade tree exudes a “weeping” appearance. Consider planting it near a water feature or around oasis zones. It works in group plantings. Multi-stemmed or single, this evergreen grows to about 20 to 40 ft, with a spread of 10 to 20 ft. Creamy white to yellow flowers are fragrant. Narrow strip leaves, from gray to green or blue-green. Smooth trunks when young, rougher and fissured with maturity. Has pods, 3 to 4 in. and ˝ in. wide. Full sun, drought tolerant. Water deeply and widely to reduce wind instability, and one to two times monthly in warmest weather. Low maintenance. Hardiness to 20 degree F. Origins: Australia. |
